Betty received a call on Wednesday-Thanksgiving Eve. A mom and grandma were arrested and the neighbor had this little fellow. The mother asked that her son be placed with Betty's Angels. Over the holiday weekend most of the angels were with extended family. Only three were home and his adjustment was easy. However, everyone was home come Sunday! He is an only child and I observed that he is too polite to jump in when the girls are chatting over breakfast. He kept quietly saying "Excuse me" ...which no one heard but me.
He did mention his mom today, but the girls quickly comforted him that their parents had been in jail, homeless, ill, on drugs, or whatever brought them to Betty. Some were open about being bi racial like him, and that no one lives with their mommy, but it's a nice home and Grandma is loving. That in time, he will be able to visit her but he'll be safely living at Grandma's. For most of us, the holidays are a time of joy and celebration with our loved ones. For many homeless kids, it's a painful reminder.
You might be surprised to know that every year, as many as 1.6 million kids experience homelessness. At Betty's Angels, we are our kids' family – on Thanksgiving, Christmas and every other day of the year. And as their family, it's our job to protect, love and support them… and help them start futures of hope and happiness. This Christmas, I hope you will help us as we support more kids from the dangerous streets.
Hello Friends! We have 13 Angels Among us and 4 who's parents were able to find work and a home and usually need a bit of support with the kids the first year. Would you like to add one of our Angels to your shopping list and make Christmas beautiful for the children who are weathering a personal season of hardship?

A Thanksgiving Prayer
May the God of Generous Giving fill you to overflowing
with grace and blessings.
May your awareness of
abundance from the hands of such a God carry you into a
Life that is altogether giving, forgiving, and thanksgiving.
We had approximately 30 volunteers roll up their sleeves and tackle Betty's Honey Do list on Sat, Oct 26th for Make a Difference Day-National Day of Volunteering.
The Warren Jr. Women's League and North Park Plumbing painted the Living and Dining room and the hallway. Others removed the hot tub from the back of the house to increase space in the girls' bedroom, and another group of men hung up brand spanking new gutters (now the basement rec room will stay dry!)
